29 year old son has 2 bulging thoracic discs in his spine and after seeing the first Orthopedic physician in January 2019, it is now mid July and my son has not received the proper care for his spine. 6 months have passed and it has been a long struggle to get approval and authorization for the MRI and now for him to see an Neurospine physician which did nothing for him....

and referred him to see a Spine anesthesiologist which now requires authorization once again. It is a game that Magellan plays because they DO NOT want to pay for the care even though they receive state and federal funds for each person that is assigned to them. They DO NOT have physicians in network, so they play the bouncing the patient around game. I am an RN for over 30 years and have never seen anything like this.

I will be seeking legal advice due to lack of proper care for my son ..... his pain is getting worse every day and he is not taking any pain medications due to side effects.

Please choose a different plan or insurance .... or keep your straight Medicaid/ Medicare because these so called managed care companies are taking the money, But NOT managing or providing the care.

Magellan Health Cons: Customer service is the worst, Terrible all the way around, Denial of care, Waiting over 6 months for the appropriate physician and care.

I called to find a provider for my son. The first representative on the line spoke to me condescendingly from the start, made a noise of disgust when I told him my son's last name (Spanish last name) and the last straw was when he actually told me that he couldn't understand me because I have an "accident." I'm pretty sure he meant "accent." It is incredible that this type of prejudice is allowed in this company.

I filed a complaint, but I have the feeling that nothing will be done.

I will contact the corporate office next as well as write reviews/complaints like this online. Be aware of racism and discrimination in this company.
